PEORIA, AZ – NOVEMBER 19, 2013... Taking the lead from R.J. Johnson on lap four, Noblesville, Indiana’s Bryan Clauson sailed to victory at the “46th Annual Sands Chevrolet Western World Championships presented by the Racers Advantage Store.” Not only did Clauson earn the $7,500 USAC SouthWest Sprint Car triumph, he claimed the $7,500 USAC Midget win and scored an additional $5,000 bonus for his efforts at Canyon Speedway Park. Brady Bacon, Chad Boespflug, Dave Darland, and Tracy Hines followed the USAC National Champion to the checkered flags.

Piloting the Tony Stewart Racing #20 Chevy Performance / Curb Records Beast, Bryan Clauson claimed fifth in the 6-lap dash before his winning drive from fifth. For Clauson, the 30-lap victory was his sixth USAC SouthWest Sprint Car feature win. In addition, Bryan had five Racers Advantage Store Heat Race wins, six top-10 finishes, and 136 feature laps led on the year.

Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma raced from eighth to claim second in the Western World finale. Driving the BBR #99 Fatheadz Eyewear / XXX Race Company entry, the versatile driver was one of eight drivers locked into the feature and placed eighth in the dash. In limited SouthWest starts, Bacon had two top-10 finishes in 2013.

“The Hanford Hornet” Chad Boespflug claimed third in the Canyon Speedway Park finale. Racing Jack Hodges’ #74X Napa Auto Parts / Mesilla Valley Transportation Maxim, the former SCRA 360 Champion had a successful run at the Western World and placed fourth in the dash. Boespflug had one heat race win and two top-10 finishes on the weekend.

“The People’s Champion” Dave Darland of Lincoln, Indiana scored fourth in the 30-lap feature. Piloting Keith Ford’s #73 Berry Pack / King Racing Products Spike, Darland placed third in the dash and claimed one Racers Advantage Store Heat Race victory and two top-10 finishes in USAC SouthWest action.

Wilkinson, Indiana’s Tracy Hines started on the pole position and finished fifth in the Western World Championships. Driving the Pollock Racing #21 Greenwell Auto Body / Bates Commodities Inc. Maxim, the former USAC Champion on the 6-lap Sunoco Fuels Dash and had two top-10 finishes on the season.

Ronnie Clark of Tucson, Arizona earned his first “Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors with a tenth place finish after starting twenty-first. Racing the family owned #6 RCM / Performance Engine & Machine Ellis, Clark ran seventh in his semi-main event to earn a transfer to the feature. Ronnie closes out the year with three Racers Advantage Store Heat Race victories and fifteen top-10 finishes.

Phoenix, Arizona’s Mike Bonneau took the victory in the night’s 8-lap C-Main event. Piloting his #29 Priced Right Auto Sales Triple X machine, Bonneau scored sixteenth in the program’s first semi-main. Mike ends his season with five Racers Advantage Store Heat Race victories, one Sunoco Fuels Passing Masters Dash win, one hard charger award, six top-10 finishes, and 12 feature laps led.

“The Magic Man” Mike Martin of Yuma, Arizona won the program’s first 12-lap semi-main. Driving his #16 PPG Pittsburg Paints / Ultimate Offroad Maxim, Martin scored twentieth in the main event after an early exit. “The Magic Man” ended his campaign with one feature win, one fast time award, seven Racers Advantage Store Heat Race victories, twenty-one top-10 finishes, and 24 feature laps led in 2013.

Peoria, Arizona’s “Mighty” Mike Colegrove took the checkered flags in the night’s second 12-lap semi-main. Racing his #17M Precision Tile Inc. / Bell SouthWest Ellis, “Mighty Mike” placed seventeenth in the Western World finale. In limited starts, Colegrove recorded one Racers Advantage Store Heat Race victory and one top-10 finish in the season.

By virtue of his eighth place finish, R.J. Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona claimed the 2013 USAC SouthWest Sprint Car Championship. Piloting the Bill Michaels’ owned #77M Kodiak Products / Beal’s Auto Body Sherman, Johnson closed out 2013 with eleven feature wins, nine Racers Advantage Store Heat Race victories, five Sunoco Fuels Passing Masters Dash wins, three hard charger awards, twenty-three top-10 finishes, and 328 feature laps led.
